An autumn visit to RHS Wisley

The colour of autumn is a magical time of year and as a day out, a visit to RHS Wisley is a real treat.

One of my friends is a member and she kindly offered to take me as her guest and what a wonderful morning we had.

There is a bounty of colour before you even enter the gardens.

As a bonus, there were still some flowers in bloom and a number of Red Admirals were enjoying the nectar and sunshine.

RHS Wisley was founded by a Victorian businessman and RHS member George Ferguson Wilson (good name that) in 1878. The gardens are one of five run by the RHS and is the second most visited in the UK, after Kew. Walking around you can see why, from the magnificent vistas to some wonderful sculptures.

Amongst the gardens there is plenty of water to get that perfect reflection and the odd Heron to spot.

The gardens open at 10am and a visit for non-members costs £18, with 60 acres to explore. I hope my pictures have sold it for you, as its well worth a visit, especially at this time of year. If you go please be sure to share some images with me.
