Photographic Tip number 8

I learnt a valuable lesson when I went to take pictures of the Olympic Road race that ran through Putney in 2012; be well prepared. The crowds at the best spots were 8 deep and if it wasn’t for a kind chap who said I could join him on his ladder I would have missed most of the action.

So ever since this occasion, any events I have visited, including The Queens funeral last year, I have travelled with a small step ladder strapped to my back. Awkward yes, but you don’t want to make all that effort and be let down by someone’s head blocking out all the action. Maybe you don’t have to go to my lengths but be sure to think about what you might find and be prepared.

These guys went one further, with a chair on top of a car!
